The more than 430 members of IKW account for over 95 percent of the industry. All well-known big global players of the industry operating in Germany are members of IKW. The majority of the members are small and medium-size manufacturers and distributors.

Founded in 1968 and located in Frankfurt/Main, the main business hub of Germany, IKW voices opinion on national and global economic, legal, technical and scientific issues which are of mutual concern to its members.

Not surprising for a German industry association, IKW is committed to particularly demanding standards of product quality and safety. Within this mission its own teams of experts from various task forces examine fundamental health issues and perform thorough environmental assessments of products and their ingredients.

IKW is supporting the participation of its members in important international exhibitions (German Pavilions) and is founding member of the European associations Cosmetics Europe and A.I.S.E. (International Association for Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance Products), both based in Brussels, Belgium.
